How to Remove Your Makeup: Battle of the Makeup Removers

You all know that removing your makeup and cleansing your face at the end of the day is extremely important. There have been so many cleansing oils and balms that have hit the market recently so I figured I'd break it down for you and go through the different ways to remove your makeup plus the pros and cons of each. makeup removers Alright, let's get into it! When it comes to removing makeup, there are a few different options. You can use a makeup removing wipe, micellar water, or cleansing oil/balm. makeup removers Makeup Removing Wipes -- For years I've used makeup removing wipes. I've tried so many kinds from the original Neutrogena wipes to the new-ish Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal Makeup Wipes. My absolute favorite ones ever are the Kirkland Daily Facial Wipes. They have a texture to them which makes removing makeup extremely easy and they are really wet. I hate when I open a package of makeup wipes and they're almost dried out. These stay wet for a long time. The best part about liking these ones is that they are SO much more affordable than any of the others I've tried. Pros: They're convenient and travel-friendly. Cons: You can pull on your skin trying to get all of the makeup off which causes wrinkles and isn't good for your skin. makeup removers Micellar Water -- After hearing tons of hype, I finally decided to try a micellar water. I've tried the Simple Micellar Water and the Garnier Micellar Water. It definitely removes makeup easily. I found that I go through the product extremely fast and I was using a ton of cotton rounds. These formulas left my skin feeling a little greasy which I didn't like. Pros: No pulling on your skin, makeup comes off very easily. Cons: Go through product quickly, leaves film on your skin. makeup removers Cleansing Oils and Balms -- I heard so much about the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm so I knew I wanted to try it. It's a solid balm where you take a small amount in your hands, rub your fingers together and then start massaging it into your skin. This formula breaks down all of the makeup including eye makeup. Real talk: using this makes you look like a crazy person when you have black mascara rubbed all over your face lol! To be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan of this balm. I think it may have been too built up in my mind, but it's not cheap and you have to use a decent amount to get all of your makeup off. Then I tried out the Dermalogica Precleanse which is an oil. You pump it into your dry hands and massage it into your skin. This works much like the Clinique balm. For me, the difference was that the oil was a much lighter formula and I felt like it really got everything off without using a ton of product. Pros: Easily removes all makeup without pulling at skin, leaves skin feeling nourished Cons: Price point is a bit higher I've tried out tons of different makeup removers, but when it comes down to it on a daily basis I use either the Kirkland Makeup Removing Wipes or the Dermalogica Precleanse. Those are my two go-to products and I switch between the two. Now that your makeup is off, it's time to cleanse your skin with a typical cleanser. I've been using the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser for years and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I'll share my entire nighttime skincare routine and products next week. For now, I hope that helped clear up some questions about which makeup removing avenue to go down! What's your preferred way to remove your makeup?
