Game Night in Columbus

Game Night in Columbus

I absolutely love to travel so I decided I wanted to start sharing some of my trips with you! This is the first of many travel posts you'll see in the future. Last weekend, my boyfriend Pete and I went to Columbus for the night. We left here on Friday morning and drove the 3 1/2 hours down to Columbus. I had never been there before so I was excited to explore a new city. It's one of my favorite things to do, and we had tickets to the Team USA vs Team Canada World Cup of Hockey Pre-Tournament Game (PHEW! That was a long name!) When we got there, we checked into the hotel and went out for a little exploring. We stayed at the Hilton in the Arena District. It was right across the street from the Arena which made it really convenient. img_0805before-game

Our first stop was to Gordon Biersch which was such throwback for me. There used to be a GB in Pasadena where I lived for a few years so it was fun to go there. After a couple of drinks, we went into the arena. Pete was SO excited to be there which made it even more fun. The game was AMAZING and Team USA won! It was so cool to hear everyone chanting and the crowd being so into it. Pete already told me I'm spoiled and will never see a game like that one ever again haha. img_0832at-the-game On Saturday morning, we got up and decided to wander out to find some brunch. We ended up in a little district called the Short North. It was seriously adorable. There are so many restaurants, bars, and boutiques. There's also tons of art on the sides of buildings. We ended up having brunch at a place called the Eagle. Pete got a bloody mary that was gigantic and had tons of toppings and also the grilled cheese which he said was delish. I got the mac and cheese which was also amazing. I wish I could eat like a 12-year-old boy everyday! short-north_edited-1robotbrunchfarmer After brunch, the exploring continued. We found this cute little alley and I, naturally, had a dance party. alley-goofing_edited-1alley1edited

Then we decided to go down to the riverwalk which we heard was one of the main attractions. It was so picturesque. We seriously had the best weather for a day walking around in the city. We were both shocked at how empty it was by the river. It had such a great path for biking or running so we expected to see more people. riverwalk-editedriverwalk2riverwalk1 After the riverwalk, we made the trek back home. We left just in the nick of time because we hit a huge thunderstorm very shortly into the trip home. I was so pleasantly surprised by Columbus. It really was a fun city! The only thing we wish we had done was rent bikes. The river was pretty far from the Short North district. It would've been cool to be able to ride around everywhere. Overall, it was such a blast. We also have our first trip crossed off the list and now know we have no problems taking trips together. I can't wait for so many more! xoxo, Sarah
