First Impression: Essie Gel Setter

I heard about this new product from a fellow nail-polish-loving friend a few days ago. I knew immediately that I needed to give it a try. I've tried the Sally Hansen Gel Shine 3D Top Coat, and I was not a fan at all. My polish chipped the same day, which for me is unheard of. My home manicures usually last me at least 5 days, and even then it just looks dull, not chipped. The best part about a gel manicure, for me at least, is the shine. I change my mind too much to keep one polish on that long, I don't have the patience to sit in the salon every week, I like how I paint my nails better than they do at the salon, it ruins your natural nails, and it's expensive! There are a lot of reasons I'm not a fan of gel manicures, but the shine is amazing. I've been using Out the Door as my top coat for so long that I've started buying the big bottles and all of the writing is worn off. It's wonderful. It's quick drying, shiny, and a great consistency to get that flawless manicure. out the dooredited Now, onto Essie's Gel Setter. I'm not going to lie, I LOVE it! I was a little iffy after my experience with the Sally Hansen version, but this stuff is the real deal. It dries pretty quickly, really makes my nails look like I got a gel manicure, and dries rock hard. The consistency is pretty thick, but I like that because it really seals in the color. essie shieneditednail shineedited It's hard to tell from the photos if one is more shiny than the other. All I know is I love the way the Essie Gel Setter makes my nails look and feel. I think after all these years, I've found my new holy grail top coat! I will say that I'll continue wearing my Out the Door when I'm in a hurry though, because I do think it dries faster. Let me know what nail products that you are obsessed with or if there's something you've heard about and want an opinion on in the comments. I'm always looking to try something new! (: Xoxo, Sarah P.S. In case you're wondering, this in Mod About You is the color on my nails (:
