DIY Festive Tassel Garland

DIY Festive Tassel Garland

I'm so excited to share my first holiday post with you today! I made this adorable tissue paper tassel garland yesterday to hang over the buffet in my dining room. Today I'm going to share exactly how I made it. All you need to get started is tissue paper in the colors that you want, scissors, and string. A couple of things to note -- I ended up not using the cellophane as it didn't work, so I highly recommend either using tissue paper, fabric, or yarn. I also decided last minute to remove the tan tassels and replace them with silver, because a lot of my holiday decor is silver. Don't be afraid to play around with things until you get it just the way you want it! tassel garland Take a piece of tissue paper, folding it half lengthwise, cut stripes into it leaving about an inch at the fold.tassel garland Unfold the sheet of tissue paper so the stripes are cut on both sides. Then start tightly rolling the middle portion that isn't cut towards the other side. TIP: Continue to untangle the tissue paper gently as you're rolling so it doesn't rip or become too tangled to untangle when you're done rolling. tassel garland Once the tissue is rolling completely, start twisting the middle portion and create a small loop.tassel garland Tie the loop with a small piece of the string you've chosen. Continue those steps until all the tassels you want are made. Cut a piece of string long enough for the area you want the tassels to hang, and begin feeding the string through the loopholes you've made. tassel garland Now, it's time to find a place to hang it, and you're done! tassel garland I hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial! I'm loving the way mine turned out. What are you making this holiday season? Let me know in the comments! xoxo, Sarah Save
